Fr. Charles Corrigan,Redemptorist.  Rector of the community in London; involved in Missions at home & abroad.

Sr. Phyllis Hughes,a Sister of Evron. Director of a Spirituality Centre in Stockport & involved in Retreat work.

WHAT IS A MISSION?

Bourne and Deeping Parishes are about to celebrate a Parish Mission. This is a special event in the life of your Parish

A MISSION happens only once every few years

It is a great OPPORTUNITY to:

  • slow down and look at your life
  • look at your relationship with God
  • look at your relationship with those around you
  • look at your relationship with yourself

A MISSION is:

  • a reminder of the love of God for each one of us and our world
  • an invitation to work more closely with God and your local Parish Community

YOU ARE INVITED!

  • Come, hear and share the Word of God with the whole Parish community
  • Learn about your relationship with Jesus Christ; renew it and celebrate it.
  • A MISSION is for all Catholics who want to deepen their faith and for THOSE searching for THE MEANING OF LIFE
  • A MISSION is for all CHRISTIANS who would like to com e along and for those who want to find out more about Jesus Christ.

YOU ARE ALL INVITED!

People stop going to Church or don't go to Church very often for many reasons:

  • just get out of the habit
  • perhaps they are divorced remarried
  • feel unwelcome
  • maybe they had an argument with a priest

Whatever the reason, this MISSION will give you the chance to do something about your faith in GOD

YOU ARE INVITED!

Come along, your presence can and will make all the difference!

Children Liturgy and Youth Group

Children’s Liturgy

At both Bourne and Deeping churches, during the first half of the Sunday mass, the children have the opportunity to go into a separate room where they can learn about the reading of the day at their own level.

The Children’s liturgy is run by volunteers from the parish and they also organise activity afternoons and parties.  During the year, the children have their own masses where they read, take up the offertory and take part in any way they can.

If you require any further information you can contact either Kay Martin on 01778 561464 (Deeping) or Sue Harrower on 01778 420753 (Bourne)

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the children’s liturgy.  If you are interested, please give Sue or Kay a ring.

Youth Group

The youth group is for young people aged 11 and above.  We meet on the second Sunday of the month.  Some months we go to organised activities like bowling, tobogganing, roller skating etc and other months we have quiz nights or fun and games nights.  If you would be interested in joining please contact either Sue Harrower (Bourne) or Kay Martin (Deeping).

Supporting Bosnia

From April 2000 when they made their first visit to Medjugorje, Deacon Joe and Felicity have been supporting refugees in Bosnia.  These people were ethnically-cleansed during the War in the former Yugoslavia 1992-5.  That is now such a long time ago yet there are still thousands of desperately poor refugees all over Bosnia, stranded hundreds of miles from where they originally came from, living in dire situations and yet still too afraid to go back and reclaim their homes.  Now, some 12 years on from that first visit, with Deacon Joe having survived several life-threatening illnesses, one of them actually in Bosnia in May 2009, even though they have not been back since, they have daily contact with people there and are aware of how terrible things still are for so many and they are still trying to help. Many houses have been built by ‘Housing Aid Bosnia’ (Sr Josephine with Joe and Felicity) and ‘Aid2Bosnia’ (Joe and Felicity) and other charities from outside Bosnia, and the house for Slavica and Denis, in 2000, was paid for entirely by our Bourne and Deeping Churches.  The house that Vinko built for Nensi and their little son, Emanuel was built from 2005 taking approximately 3 years, with no outside workers, just Vinko and AID2BOSNIA and supporters who bought the materials.  A complete update of the current situation with up-to-date pictures of the state of the camp, can be seen on the website:  www.aid2bosnia.org
